Mark Cole feed

Upon earning his BFA in Ceramics in 2000 from Northern Michigan University, Mark Cole participated in an apprenticeship position at John Glick’s Plum Tree Pottery in Farmington Hills, MI. Cole then took a residency in the village of Dan Kwian, Nakhon Ratchisima, Thailand at Umdang Ceramics. He then worked to bring ceramics to the lives of others as an AmeriCorps youth mentor at the McCarthy Alternative Education Center in Crescent City, CA. He was a post-baccalaureate student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in ceramics before beginning graduate school at Ohio University. During grad school, in 2008, he participated in the International Workshop for the Ceramic Arts at Tokoname, in Tokoname, Japan. Mark Cole completed his MFA in Ceramics at Ohio University in June of 2010 with his thesis exhibition The Elaboratous. Cole became a member of the Visual Arts Faculty in Ceramics the following summer at Interlochen. Currently, Cole teaches Ceramics and Visual Literacy as the Assistant Professor of Practice for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
